Lancaster Village Wine Walk set for Saturday

by NICK KONOTOPSKYJ Reporter

The Lancaster Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the fifth annual “Lancaster Village Wine Walk” from 2:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in the Village of Lancaster.

The day starts for bicyclists, who will have three trail options of 5, 10 and 17 miles. Bikers will meet in the Save-A-Lot parking lot on Aurora Street, and there will be a place to store bikes after the event is over.

The actual Wine Walk begins at 4 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m. It will feature 19 tasting sites for wine, beer, cider and food. Musical entertainment will be performed throughout in the village, and participants will receive one complimentary stemless tasting glass and one free horse-drawn carriage ride.

“This is a great example of chamber members working together with village government,” said Chamber of Commerce President John Chmarney. “This is an event we look forward to every year, and we are excited to welcome four new businesses to the Lancaster Village Wine Walk.”

The new businesses are The 3 Dog Barber, Gilded Maple, Lancaster Coffee Co. & Cafe, and Skoob’s Village Grille.

The Lancaster Opera House, 21 Central Ave., Lancaster, will be showing “The Wizard of Oz” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The Opera House package, for $35, includes the Wine Walk and ticket to the show.

General admission tickets that don’t include the Opera House are $20 per person presale and $25 per person on the day of the event.

“We have seen so much growth from this event over the past two or three years, and we are looking forward to seeing that trend continue,” Chmarney said. “It is nice to know that we have created an atmosphere where the village is very active, and the Wine Walk is just one of the many ways we show that.”

Registration is at the PAC Building, 14 W. Main St., Lancaster Village. For more information, visit www.winewalk18.com, email info@wnychamber.com, or call 681-9755.
